DRUPALCAMP 2015
AUG 28-29TH, TALLINN
Hotell Euroopa (Paadi 5)

REST in Peace

Today many websites serve as a backend for mobile and web clients. End users, in their turn, don't care about servers, technologies and other geeky stuff behind applications they use. What they really care about is that the app works seamlessly and responds really quickly. We believe that Drupal is a great tool for building fast and robust backend APIs for such applications.

In Drupal 7, we have several modules that allow to build an API for your site in a few clicks. Services and RestWS are the most popular solutions, but there are, of course, alternative approaches to do the job.

At our session we're going to give an overview of existing solutions, compare them and share our experience in this field. For the best solution available we will cook a client-server demo application that you will be able to taste right after the presentation.
The session will cover:

  • Brief introduction of REST principles
  • Comparison and benchmarks of existing Drupal solutions
  • What is behind the magical phrase “Headless Drupal”
  • Build-in web services in Drupal 8
  • Drupal as a REST client
  • Live demo

Who is the session for:

  • Backend Developers
  • Frontend Developers who build client-side applications that use Drupal as a backend
  • Mobile Developers who are considering Drupal as a backend for their mobile apps
